Description
We created this image at the "No Kings" protest in Downtown Los Angeles on October 18th, 2025. It is a modern adaptation of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima in 1945. Antifascism may look different today, but the message is still the same.
During World War II, the United States watched as nations slipped into fascism and eventually our isolationism lead us to being dragged into the conflict anyways. The brave men and women of our armed forces fought the forces of tyranny and won. In 2025, the fight looks different. Instead of other nations slipping into fascism, it’s our own. The American president has declared war on American cities and on citizens that disagree with him. His administration of fear mongering, corruption, and hatred is poisoning the minds of millions of Americans. Any attempt at framing his adversaries as “violent” is being met with inflatable animals and peaceful protest. So yes, we don’t have a king and we are not at war. But Donald Trump would like nothing more than to be the king of a nation at war with itself where dissenters are arrested, deported, silenced and where he has absolute immunity from his crimes. So we fight hatred with love, bigotry with unity, and lies with truth. We do this now in order to stop his tyrannical fantasy from coming true.
